ADHD & Autism
Screening and Comprehensive Assessment for Adults
Understanding neurodivergence is about more than just determining whether you meet diagnostic criteria. It's about making sense of your experiences, recognising lifelong patterns, and understanding how your unique brain and nervous system has interacted with your environment over time.
Whether you are seeking an ADHD & Autism screening or a comprehensive diagnostic assessment, the process is designed to provide clarity, understanding and practical recommendations.
While guided by structured, evidence-based assessment tools, every assessment takes into account your unique experiences, history and goals - recognising that no two people share the same story.

Understanding Your Neurodivergence…
ADHD & Autism
Screening for Adults
A thoughtful first step towards understanding your experiences.
If you've been wondering whether ADHD or autism may be part of your story but aren't sure whether a comprehensive assessment is the right next step for you, screening provides an opportunity to explore your experiences in a supportive, neuroaffirming environment.
What is included:
Evidence based screening and narrative questions
50-minute consultation
Brief written summary
The outcome includes a brief written summary of your results and personalised recommendations, including guidance about whether further assessment may be beneficial.
Screening is not diagnostic, but may provide valuable insight into your experiences and help you make an informed decision about your next steps.
-
Before Your Appointment
Following your booking, you'll receive a secure online questionnaire package to complete before your appointment. This includes a combination of evidence-based screening measures and reflective questions about your goals, current experiences and personal history.
The screening questions typically take around 2 hours to complete and explore areas commonly associated with ADHD and autism, including attention, executive functioning, sensory experiences, communication, masking and lifelong patterns of functioning.
Your 50-Minute Consultation
During your telehealth appointment, we'll discuss your questionnaire results alongside your lived experiences, strengths, challenges and personal history. This is an opportunity to explore whether neurodivergence may be part of your story, ask questions about ADHD and autism, and consider whether a comprehensive assessment would be helpful for your individual circumstances.
The consultation is collaborative, supportive and tailored to your goals. There is no expectation that you arrive with all the answers.
Your Written Summary
Within 1–2 weeksof your appointment, you'll receive a brief written summary outlining your screening results, key discussion points and personalised recommendations.
Depending on your circumstances, recommendations may include proceeding with a comprehensive ADHD & Autism assessment, exploring alternative explanations for your experiences, or identifying practical strategies and supports that may be helpful moving forward.
Please note: An ADHD & Autism Screening is not a diagnostic assessment and does not determine whether you meet the diagnostic criteria for ADHD or autism.
The purpose of the screening is to explore whether your experiences may be consistent with neurodivergence, and whether a comprehensive diagnostic assessment may be beneficial. If your goal is to receive a formal diagnosis and comprehensive written report, the Comprehensive ADHD & Autism Assessment is the most appropriate option.

ADHD & Autism
Comprehensive Assessment
for Adults
A deep understanding of your story.
A comprehensive ADHD and autism assessment is about more than determining whether you meet diagnostic criteria. It is an opportunity to understand your experiences in the context of your whole life - recognising the patterns, strengths and challenges that have shaped the way you think, feel and move through the world.
What is included:
Evidence based screening and narrative questions
50-minute initial consultation
3 hour assessment appointment (including breaks!)
50-minute results consultation
Comprehensive Report
Where appropriate, the outcome includes formal diagnosis, a comprehensive written report, personalised recommendations, and - most importantly - a deeper understanding of yourself that can help guide future decisions, supports and wellbeing.
-
Before Your Assessment
Before we meet, you'll complete a comprehensive questionnaire package exploring your goals, developmental history and lived experiences, along with a range of evidence-based assessment measures. This information provides an important foundation for understanding your unique story and typically takes 2–3 hours to complete. We require these to be completed 10 days prior to your appointment.
Initial Consultation
Our first 50-minute telehealth appointment is an opportunity to discuss your questionnaire responses, explore your experiences in greater depth, and clarify what you hope to gain from the assessment. This conversation helps guide the remainder of the assessment process.
Comprehensive Assessment Appointment
Your assessment appointment takes approximately 3–4 hours (including breaks!) and is completed via telehealth. Using evidence-based diagnostic interviews for ADHD and autism such as the DIVA-5 and MIGDAS-2, we'll explore your experiences in a warm, collaborative and conversational way. While the assessment follows a structured diagnostic process, it is always tailored to your individual experiences and completed at a pace that supports your comfort.
A comprehensive assessment extends well beyond the assessment appointment itself. Considerable time is then dedicated to thoughtfully integrating all aspects of your assessment, applying evidence-based diagnostic criteria, developing an individualised clinical formulation, and preparing a report that is both clinically robust and genuinely reflective of your lived experiences.
Feedback Session
Once all assessment information has been carefully reviewed and integrated, we'll meet again for a 50-minute consultation to discuss the outcome of your assessment. Your report is reviewed with you during the feedback session and provided afterwards. Where appropriate, this includes a formal diagnosis, along with a detailed discussion of what the findings mean for you and personalised recommendations to support your next steps.
Your Comprehensive Report
Following your feedback session, you'll receive your detailed written report that brings together your history, assessment findings and recommendations. The report is designed not only to communicate diagnostic outcomes, but to provide a meaningful understanding of your unique neurotype and lived experiences, together with a concise summary that can be shared with your GP or other healthcare professionals if you choose.

ADHD & Autism
Comprehensive Assessment:
Your Questions Answered…
-
ADHD and autism frequently occur together, and many people share experiences that overlap across both neurotypes. Even when someone initially seeks an assessment for just one, considering both provides a more complete understanding of their strengths, challenges and lived experiences.
Exploring both ADHD and autism also helps ensure the assessment considers the whole person rather than focusing on a single diagnosis. This broader perspective supports a more accurate clinical formulation and allows recommendations to be tailored to your individual needs.
Importantly, assessing both does not mean that you will receive both diagnoses. Instead, it reflects a comprehensive, evidence-based approach that recognises the complexity and individuality of neurodivergence. Regardless of the outcome, the process aims to provide a meaningful understanding of your experiences and a clearer pathway forward.
-
The ADHD & Autism Screening is designed as a thoughtful first step for people who are beginning to explore whether neurodivergence may be part of their story. It provides an overview of your questionnaire results, discussion of your lived experiences, and personalised recommendations about whether a comprehensive assessment may be beneficial.
The Comprehensive ADHD & Autism Assessment is a much more in-depth process. It combines detailed developmental history, evidence-based questionnaires, structured diagnostic interviews and clinical formulation to determine whether you meet the diagnostic criteria for ADHD and/or autism. It also provides a comprehensive report and individualised recommendations to help you better understand yourself and guide future supports.
-
Firstly, we would be so happy to continue to support you throughout the process of understanding your neurodivergence.
Please contact us as let us know you would like to complete a Comprehensive Assessment and we can book you in.
Whilst you have already completed Screening, a comprehensive diagnostic assessment requires a more detailed and structured process than the initial screening - so the full process is still undertaken, with initial consultation, assessment appointment and feedback session.
However, the information gathered during your screening provides a valuable foundation and helps guide the assessment.
If you proceed to a Comprehensive ADHD & Autism Assessment within 6 months of your screening appointment, $200 of your screening fee will be credited towards the assessment fee.
-
While the assessment appointment itself takes around 3–4 hours, a significant proportion of the work happens afterwards. Every assessment requires careful review of questionnaires, integration of developmental history and interview information, application of diagnostic criteria, clinical formulation, report writing and preparation for your feedback session.
My aim is not simply to determine whether diagnostic criteria are met, but to provide a thoughtful and meaningful understanding of your experiences. This careful synthesis ensures your report is both clinically rigorous and individually relevant, with practical recommendations tailored to your circumstances.

All appointments are provided securely via telehealth, allowing you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own home, anywhere in Australia.
Prior to your appointment, you'll receive a secure link to join your session via email and text. Each session will have it’s own unique link.
The assessment is designed to be collaborative, conversational and completed from the comfort of your own home. A little preparation beforehand can help the day run as smoothly as possible.
Choose a quiet, comfortable space where you'll be able to talk without interruptions.
Use a laptop or desktop computer if possible, positioned on a table or desk, to help us maintain a clear visual connection throughout the assessment.
Check your internet connection, ensure your device is charged (or plugged in), and consider turning off notifications to minimise distractions.
Dress comfortably and have water, a warm drink, snacks or lunch nearby, as we'll be spending several hours together with a planned break.
Make yourself comfortable. You're welcome to use fidgets, weighted blankets, headphones, sensory supports or anything else that helps you feel regulated during the assessment.
Keep a notebook nearby if you'd like to jot down thoughts or questions as we go.
Support people and pets are welcome if they help you feel more comfortable. Please advise during booking if a support person may attend so we may discuss their role during the sessions.
Most importantly, there is no need to ‘prepare the right answers.’ The assessment is simply a conversation about your experiences. My role is to guide the discussion, ask thoughtful questions, and work with you to build a meaningful understanding of your unique story.
To help you focus and get the most from the assessment, I recommend arranging alternative care for young children during appointments where possible. However, life doesn’t always fit neatly around assessment. Parenting young children, caring responsibilities, feeding an infant, sensory needs, and other aspects of daily life are all understandable priorities.
We can work together to take your individual circumstances into account and create an assessment environment that feels as comfortable, accessible and supportive as possible. Please let me know during the booking process if there are any circumstances, needs or practical considerations that may be helpful for me to be aware of.
-
Additional information such as school reports, previous assessments or information from family members can sometimes strengthen the assessment by providing further insight into childhood development and your experiences throughout life.
However, these documents are not always available and are not required for every assessment. If additional information would be helpful in your particular circumstances, we'll discuss this together during the assessment process.
-
Where appropriate, the comprehensive assessment may result in a formal diagnosis of ADHD and/or autism based on the DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria.
Sometimes an assessment concludes that the diagnostic criteria are not fully met. This does not mean your experiences are any less real or important.
Sometimes an assessment identifies that another explanation better accounts for your experiences, or that several factors are interacting in complex ways. Together in the feedback session, we'll discuss what the assessment has shown, explore alternative ways of understanding your experiences where relevant, and consider recommendations that support your wellbeing moving forward.
The goal is always to leave with greater understanding - not simply a yes or no answer.
Please note: formal diagnosis is not provided with the Screening pathway.
-
No. You do not need a referral to book a comprehensive ADHD & Autism assessment.
Assessments are available for adults who would like to explore whether neurodivergence may be part of their story. You are welcome to contact Seed Psychology Services directly to discuss whether an assessment may be the right fit for you.
A referral from a GP or another healthcare professional is not required; however, if you would like your GP or another member of your healthcare team involved in the process, you are welcome to discuss this with me.
-
Yes.
You can complete an ADHD and autism assessment while engaging with another health professional.
If you are currently receiving psychological therapy, the assessment remains a separate service. Information from your existing care can be considered where relevant and with appropriate consent.
-
At present, Medicare rebates are not available for comprehensive adult ADHD and Autism assessments completed by a psychologist.
Private health insurance rebates for psychological services vary significantly depending on your individual policy and level of cover.
Please contact your private health insurer directly to confirm whether psychological assessment services are covered under your policy and what requirements apply.
Seed Psychology Services is unable to confirm eligibility or process private health insurance claims on your behalf.

A psychological assessment can provide ADHD diagnosis, a comprehensive understanding of your ADHD profile and how ADHD may be affecting different areas of your life. Psychologists however, do not prescribe medication.
If medication is something you are considering, you can discuss this with your GP or a psychiatrist. ADHD medication prescribing requirements vary between states and territories, and individual medical practitioners may also have their own requirements for assessment, diagnosis and treatment. These requirements can change over time, so it is important to check what applies in your state or territory and with the medical practitioner you are considering.
As part of the comprehensive assessment pathway, your assessment report will include diagnostic conclusions where relevant, along with a detailed summary of your assessment findings and recommendations. You will also receive a brief summary of the key findings, which you can share with your GP, psychiatrist or other treating practitioners as appropriate.
Your comprehensive assessment report can provide useful information for your treating medical practitioner as part of their clinical decision-making. However, acceptance of a psychological assessment or diagnosis is ultimately at the discretion of the treating practitioner, and they may require additional information, assessment or their own diagnostic process before considering medication.
I do not prescribe medication, determine whether medication is appropriate, or provide referrals to specific psychiatrists or other prescribers.
-
A psychological assessment report on its own is generally not sufficient to support an NDIS access request.
NDIS eligibility is determined by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and often requires evidence from multiple health professionals, depending on your individual circumstances and the information requested by the NDIA.
If you are seeking an assessment specifically to support an NDIS application, I recommend discussing the evidence requirements with your NDIS support coordinator or Local Area Coordinator (LAC) if you have one, or contacting the NDIA directly before proceeding. This will help ensure you obtain the most appropriate assessments and documentation for your individual circumstances.
-
Unfortunately no, I provide services for adults aged 18 years and over.
-
Assessment and individual therapy are separate services.
If you would like psychological support following your assessment, ongoing therapy may be discussed where clinically appropriate and where availability allows. I intentionally maintain a limited therapy caseload to allow space for the different elements of my practice, so ongoing therapy cannot always be offered following an assessment.
Therapy may focus on understanding your experiences, integrating new insights, supporting emotional wellbeing, relationships, coping strategies, or other goals that are meaningful to you. Therapy is not included in the assessment fee and is not required as part of completing an assessment.
